“Mom’s Heart”

I’ve become a mom
The new boundaries of my heart…
Immeasurable

Written shortly after the birth of my first. With the increased strength and activity in utero of my second daughter, I’m realizing that “immeasurable” is still true, and yet is still able to feel like those boundaries are expanding.

_{I know traditional haiku follows content rules, not only the structured 5-7-5 syllables, but when I’ve got so much going on in my brain that makes it feel too overwhelming to get anything out, I’ll write something in haiku structure to force me to focus.}
